What is it
Arrow-Orange
Our Advocacy Strategy aims at exposing and mitigating the most detrimental aspects of migration deterrence policies, while promoting positive change, dignity and well-being of vulnerable people.
What we do
The word "Selamet" is used in the local dialect of Lesvos, but its meaning is universal. The term is a loan from the Turkish Selamet, which is derived from the Quranic word Salam (meaning peace) and is found in all countries where the Quranic language is used, such as the Middle East and North Africa, Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, and elsewhere.

In the dialect of Lesvos Selamet means "in the right way". The name creates a link between the locals’ and the refugee experience; while used locally, it opens the door to inclusion of people such as refugees, one of the principles of Lesvos Solidarity.

Committed to doing things in the right way, Lesvos Solidarity fully renovated an abandoned building and turned it to a shelter.

The program accepts single women with or without minor children, regardless of their origin or legal status.
